Did She Dream of a Perfect Crime... Wife Who Killed Husband, a Chilling Planned Crime
Plans for the Crime Including Sleeping Pills, Alibi, and Tools
Arrested on Charges of Destroying Evidence Against Lover
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Evidence has emerged suggesting that a woman in her 60s, who claimed to have killed her husband impulsively after enduring domestic violence, may have committed a premeditated crime.
On the 13th, the Gwangju Western Police Station announced that A (61, female), who killed her husband and attempted to destroy evidence, will be sent to the prosecution on charges of murder and instructing evidence destruction, while her lover B (61) will be sent on charges of evidence destruction.
A is accused of giving her husband (55) a sleeping pill and then hitting his head with a blunt object and strangling him to death at their third-floor villa in Geumho-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, between 8:00 and 9:20 p.m. on the 4th.
B is accused of disposing of the tools used in the crime and cleaning supplies on a roadside in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, at 9:15 p.m. the following day, at A’s request around 9:50 p.m. on the same evening.
According to the police, earlier on the 5th at around 1 a.m., A called 112 and reported, "I went to a karaoke room with my daughter, and it seems my husband fell in the bathroom and died."
However, when the police found a wound on the husband’s head that appeared to have been caused by a blunt object and continued their investigation, A confessed, stating, "I committed the crime impulsively after suffering domestic violence from my husband," and was arrested.
However, the autopsy revealed that the husband’s body contained △ sleeping pill components and △ the direct cause of death was estimated to be asphyxiation due to neck compression.
Ultimately, A’s claim that she committed the crime impulsively after suffering domestic violence from her husband has shifted toward a premeditated crime.
Police investigations revealed that A had been prescribed a month’s supply of sleeping pills four days before the crime. Also, immediately after the crime, she contacted B and asked him to destroy evidence such as the tools used and towels used to wipe bloodstains.
The police believe that A planned and executed the crime deliberately, considering that she △ was prescribed sleeping pills five days before the crime, △ sent her daughter to a nearby karaoke room just before the crime, △ moved her husband’s body from the living room to in front of the bathroom after killing him, △ wiped bloodstains at the crime scene and covered the body with a blanket, and △ instructed her lover B to destroy evidence immediately after the crime.
B was arrested at his residence on the 9th and detained on the 11th, but no evidence has emerged that he participated in the murder.
Regarding the motive, the police are focusing on the fact that A’s extramarital relationship, which had lasted for four years, was recently discovered by her husband, and that there was a dispute over property division during preparations for divorce.
