Seoul City Plans to Utilize Site of Daesin High School
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is planning to utilize the site of Daesin High School. On the 13th, Park Gi-yeol, Vice Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, announced that Seoul City has announced a "Daesin High School Site Utilization Plan (Draft) Establishment Service." This is to prepare measures for utilizing the existing site when Daesin High School relocates. Vice Chairman Park secured a budget of 200 million KRW last year for this service.
Since 2017, Vice Chairman Park has been working as the head of the task force for attracting a high school in Heukseok-dong, striving to bring Daesin High School there. Regarding Seoul City's announcement of the service, he said, "I am pleased that the results of efforts over the past two years are gradually emerging."

Meanwhile, according to 2018 statistics from Seoul City, the average number of students per class in high schools in Dongjak-gu was 27.6, higher than the Seoul citywide average of 26.8. Additionally, 51.4% of middle school graduates in Dongjak-gu attend high schools outside the area. Vice Chairman Park pointed out, "The shortage of high schools in Dongjak-gu is at a serious level."
