'Galaxy S20' on the Start Screen... Real Photo Leaked
Changing the product name 'Galaxy S20' in real photos
to the series name strategy to get ahead of iPhone
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Real photos of Samsung Electronics' next flagship smartphone, the 'Galaxy S20,' have been leaked. The rumor that the Galaxy S series would change its name from 'Galaxy S11' to 'Galaxy S20' has been confirmed.
On the 12th (local time), according to developer community XDA Developers and others, photos of the startup screen of Samsung Electronics' unreleased Galaxy S series smartphone were revealed. The product screen in the photo shows the name 'Galaxy S20.' The device is the 'Galaxy S20+ 5G' model, and since it has a 'Confidential' sticker attached, it is presumed to be a product issued for internal staff use.
The new naming carries several meanings. Samsung Electronics is changing the Galaxy S series naming to mark the new era of 2020, while also moving away from the similar numbering to the iPhone, allowing it to take a step ahead in naming. The model names will also change. The smaller display model will be released as Galaxy S20 instead of Galaxy S20e, the mid-tier product as Galaxy S20+, and the largest product is expected to be named Galaxy S20 Ultra.
The leaked product in the photo features a hole display with a front camera positioned at the center top, similar in design to the Galaxy Note10. IT media outlet The Verge explained, "The curved edges of the display, called the edge, are less pronounced than the previous model," adding, "The Galaxy S20 Plus in the photo gives a flat impression."
The Galaxy S20 has overwhelmingly improved camera specifications compared to its predecessor. It is no coincidence that the code name for the Galaxy S20 series was 'Hubble,' named after NASA's satellite-type space telescope. Among the four lenses, the main lens supports up to 108 million pixels. From the Galaxy S20+, a 48 million pixel telephoto lens is reportedly applied. The highest-end model, Galaxy S20 Ultra, is expected to be equipped with a lens supporting 'Space Zoom,' which offers 5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.
IT media outlet PhoneArena stated, "The Galaxy S20 Ultra will feature the highest specification optical zoom and a high-resolution lens that can increase the maximum digital zoom up to 100 times," and explained, "The fact that the S20 Ultra model is slightly thicker than the S20+ model is proof that it is the only model equipped with the Space Zoom feature."

The Galaxy S20 is reportedly priced starting at $799 (approximately 928,000 KRW), the S20 5G model at $999 (about 1.16 million KRW), and the S20 Ultra model at $1,099 (about 1.276 million KRW). It is said that Samsung Electronics coordinated these prices with mobile carriers during CES. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics will hold an Unpacked event in San Francisco on February 11 to unveil the Galaxy S20 series and the second foldable phone known as the 'Galaxy Bloom.'
