Attracting Over 2,800 Participants, Expected Regional Economic Impact of Over 2.4 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Yeosu City, equipped with a mild climate throughout the four seasons, natural tourism resources, excellent sports infrastructure, and clean accommodation facilities, is gaining popularity as a winter training destination.
Jeonnam Yeosu City announced on the 10th that it has attracted a total of 146 training teams and 2,840 people (30,597 person-days) from December last year to the end of February, focusing on attracting training teams during the winter off-season for tourism.
The sports include six categories: baseball, basketball, soccer, roller sports, judo, and taekwondo, with 146 teams including Sangmyung University holding training camps and stove leagues in Yeosu.
Yeosu City supports visiting training teams with training equipment, local specialties, and vehicles, provides incentives such as tourism and welcome dinners, and is also promoting discount agreements with lodging and food service businesses.

A Yeosu City official said, "Training teams stay for as short as 5 days and as long as nearly 30 days, so we expect an economic ripple effect of about 2.4 billion won in food, lodging, and tourism from attracting winter training this year," adding, "We will continue to focus on attracting training teams by promoting to nationwide sports organizations, professional and corporate teams, and schools at all levels."
