Acne Studios Presents Limited Edition Women's Collection with Propaganda
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Acne Studios, a Swedish contemporary brand imported and sold by Shinsegae International, has collaborated with the historic American art magazine Propaganda to launch a limited edition women's collection.
Acne Studios, known for presenting unique and experimental collections each season, focused on underground art and conducted in-depth research on Propaganda, a magazine specializing in goth (a rebellious culture rooted in Gothic culture), leading to a special collaboration.
Founded in 1982 by New York photographer Fred Berger, Propaganda is an art magazine covering goth fashion, music, literature, and more, with Berger’s own photographic works receiving significant attention.
This collection features images imbued with Berger’s distinctive eerie and chilling atmosphere on women’s shirts, t-shirts, and dresses.
Items include jersey sweatshirts, short-sleeve, and sleeveless cotton t-shirts expressing iconic elements of the magazine, from early Propaganda covers to English lettering, as well as products that depict magazine images like geometric patterns.
Oversized white shirts and shirt dresses are adorned with images in orange and sky blue colors, giving a bright feel. Sheer shirts made of organza with a subtle sheen add an elegant and feminine charm.
The color palette is diversified from basic colors like black and white to soft pastel tones, broadening the range of choices.
An Acne Studios marketing representative said, “Collaboration between fashion and art has now become a trend, producing increasingly diverse results. The Propaganda collection utilizes underground art as a design element, which we expect to resonate well with the millennial generation seeking their own new style.”
