[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] Gwangju SW Meister High School, an institution for nurturing talent in the software (SW) industry to respond to the era of artificial intelligence, has produced its first graduates. Among the 72 graduates, 87.6% have been employed by leading domestic SW companies such as KEPCO KDN, Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., and Hancom Inc., working as developers.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 10th, the first graduation ceremony of Gwangju SW Meister High School (an SW Meister High School) was held on this day.
SW Meister High Schools are institutions that cultivate SW masters through customized curricula tailored to the demands of the SW industry. In addition to Gwangju, there are SW Meister High Schools in Daejeon and Daegu. Next year, an SW Meister High School will also be established in Busan.
The Ministry of Science and ICT stated that despite the low recognition of SW Meister High Schools, the graduates have been acknowledged for their excellent skills, resulting in a high employment rate. Currently, employment has been confirmed for 63 out of 72 graduates (87.5%). The remaining graduates are also undergoing employment screening.
Byun Seongjun, CEO of Hancom Inc., who hired this batch of graduates as new employees, said, "Perceptions of high school graduate developers have changed. I was impressed by their outstanding development skills and will actively support their further growth within the company."
Moon Janghoon, a student who secured employment at Midas IT, said, "Based on the practical skills acquired at school and field experience at the company, I will continue to grow and become a talent leading the global SW market."
