Jung Seup's Final Work 'The River That Does Not Return' to Be Auctioned
Lee Jung-seop's final work before ceasing painting, "The River That Does Not Return," is going up for auction. Art auction house K Auction announced on the 9th that this piece will be featured in their first auction of the year, held on the 22nd at their headquarters in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu. The work was painted in 1956, the year Lee Jung-seop passed away. It poignantly expresses his longing for his beloved wife and his mother, who was left alone in the North. The size is 18.5×14.6 cm, with an estimated price of 150 million to 300 million KRW.

The auction will also include works by Kim Whanki, Lee Ufan, Jung Sang-hwa, Park Seo-bo, and Chun Kyung-ja. In the category of antique art, items such as "Gogandok (古柬牘)," a collection of letters from prominent Joseon figures including Yi Hwang, as well as "Baekja Cheonghwa Jangsaengmun Ho" and "Buncheong Sagi Sanggam Yeonhwangmun Maebyeong" will be exhibited. The preview of the auction items will begin on the 11th.
