Hampyeong-gun Agricultural Technology Center Receives Praise for Supporting Strawberry Farm Development
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hampyeong-gun Agricultural Technology Center (Director Lee Hyangman) has received high praise from local farmers as it has actively started fostering local strawberry farms.
According to the center on the 9th, this year the county will establish a seedling nursery for export-only new strawberry varieties and smart farm facilities to build a foundation for export strawberries.
In particular, the smart farm is expected to help with precise environmental control for strawberry cultivation, which is sensitive to the environment, leading to high-quality strawberry production and increased farm income.
Previously, the county supported 13 local farms with 1.2 hectares of self-built elevated seedling facilities over the past three years.
Last year, it secured 90 million won for the local revitalization crop foundation project and supported nine farms with 8,000㎡ of elevated bench seedling facilities, high-temperature prevention facilities, and pot seedling facilities.
A specialized tissue culture seedling nursery free of viruses was also newly established in Nasan-myeon.
Sales channels have also expanded from the previously limited agricultural wholesale market to local agricultural cooperatives and local food direct stores.
Recently, a farm experience program where consumers harvest directly from the farm and a dawn delivery system have been introduced, creating a stable income generation foundation.
