Hansomeon, This Year's Fashion Trend Keyword is 'Epic'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Hansome, the leading women's fashion company in Korea, has presented 'EPIC,' an acronym derived from the first letters of 'Elegance, Practicality, Identity, Classic,' as the key trend keywords for women's fashion in the new year.
Hansome, a fashion specialist company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, stated on the 9th, "EPIC, meaning something magnificent that inspires admiration, signifies that in a specialized survival market where customer needs are becoming more specific and segmented, only designs that are more unique and differentiated can survive," adding, "This year, we plan to launch a large number of new products reflecting this meaning."
Hansome predicted that the modern elegance style, which represents contemporary elegance, will lead women's fashion trends this year. The elegance style maximizes femininity and luxury, but it had not received much attention recently due to the rise of retro fashion and genderless fashion that blurs the distinction between men and women.
A Hansome official said, "As casual looks of similar styles have spread like a trend, more customers are feeling a sense of rejection toward them. Since last winter season, sales of skirt, blouse, coat, and knit product lines emphasizing femininity in Time, Mine, and Lanvin Collection have surpassed sales of neutral styles such as jackets and outerwear."
Accordingly, Hansome plans to introduce products that reinterpret hidden feminine elegance into an urban style this year. To this end, they will release elegantly designed products such as jackets, dresses, and one-piece dresses with minimal silhouettes.
Hansome also expects items that are light, comfortable, and practical to gain attention. Since last year, the 'athleisure look' (a blend of athletic and leisurewear) that breaks down the boundaries between daily wear and sportswear has emerged as a major fashion trend, and due to a contraction in consumer sentiment, customer demand for products that can be used in various ways has increased.
In line with this trend, Hansome plans to increase the use of light and practical materials such as fleece, cashmere, corduroy, and 3M Thinsulate in System, Ratbyty, and The Cashmere product lines, applying relaxed fits. For Time and Mine, suit products will be released as separate sets that can be used as different items, allowing them to be matched with other clothing to enhance versatility.
In Lanvin Collection, a new capsule collection themed around rhythmic joggers that can be comfortably worn like sportswear in the city this fall will be launched, featuring jogger pants made of stretchy materials similar to leggings and sporty tops.
The third women's fashion trend keyword presented by Hansome, brand identity, is expected to gain attention as consumers begin to express their own tastes, moving away from uniform fashion, and brands that emphasize their unique identity and story will stand out.
Jiwon Jin, Head of Product Planning at Hansome Lanvin Collection, explained, "The higher the price of clothing, the more customers prefer clothes that clearly show the brand identity rather than styles seen in other brands or clothes that follow trends."
Hansome plans to release collections emphasizing the colors of each brand such as Time, Mine, and System this year, and to showcase styles with different atmospheres through capsule collections between seasons.
Finally, a revival of classic styles such as trench coats and tweed jackets is also anticipated. It is analyzed that consumers' desire to boldly express their femininity and character, combined with the retro fashion boom that started last year, will evolve into a new classic look that is feminine and chic.
Accordingly, Hansome Time plans to introduce coats and dresses made of tweed material and checked pattern jackets in the spring-summer season, and Mine plans to revive the 1970s lady-like look. Especially for Mine, skirts and pleated dresses with lace accents and trench coats made with lightweight and highly insulating 3M Thinsulate material will be introduced.
