Gyeonggi-do to Expand 110 Childcare Facilities This Year
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi-do is significantly expanding child care facilities.
Gyeonggi-do announced on the 8th that this year it plans to expand 110 child care facilities, including ▲76 Together Care Centers ▲11 Small Library Care Program operations ▲23 Child Care Communities ▲4 Gyeonggi-do Child Care Centers (pilot operation). To this end, the province will invest a total of 19.4 billion KRW, including 10.8 billion KRW in national funds.
The province explained that if the facility expansion proceeds as planned, the existing 84 care facilities in the province will increase to 198, including 29 Together Care Centers, 48 Small Library Care Program operations, and 7 Child Care Communities.
Along with facility expansion, the province will also promote improvements in the quality of care programs and other services.
Meanwhile, starting from the 13th, the "Gyeonggi-do Child Care Support Ordinance," which will serve as the basis for supporting child care policies, will come into effect.
The ordinance stipulates the preparation of policies and support measures necessary for child care so that children under the age of 12 can be safely protected and raised within the local community.
