[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Yushin] Newborns who stayed at a postpartum care center in Daegu have been infected with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and health authorities are investigating the infection routes.
According to Daegu City on the 7th, four newborns who recently stayed at a postpartum care center in Dalseong-gun, referred to as A, were diagnosed with RSV infection at a hospital and are receiving treatment.
RSV infection can cause infections such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants, immunocompromised individuals, and the elderly.
Health authorities closed the postpartum care center immediately after identifying the infection on the 30th of last month and are checking for additional infections.

A health official said, "RSV mainly occurs from October to March of the following year and is easily transmitted through contact with infected persons or respiratory droplets, so thorough management is necessary in postpartum care centers and infant care facilities," urging caution.
