Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Hold First 'Safe Freight Rate System' Briefing Session of the Year on the 8th

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] An explanatory session to address questions about the safety freight rate system, which is being implemented for the first time this year, will be held.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 7th that it will hold a "System Explanation Session for Cargo Owners and Transport Operators" at 2 p.m. on the 8th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to ensure the safety freight rate system is established in the freight transport market.
This session is being held to provide accurate information about the safety freight rate system to export-import companies and the freight transport industry, who must comply with the safety freight rates. About 150 domestic cargo owners and transport operators are expected to participate in the session.
The safety freight rate system is a system that sets a minimum freight rate paid to freight truck owners to improve the working conditions of freight transport workers, who face risks of overwork, overloading, and speeding due to low freight rates. The freight rates were announced on December 30 of last year.
At the session, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to explain the overview of the freight truck safety freight rate system, progress of implementation, plans for establishing and operating the safety freight rate reporting center, and the safety freight rate tariff table, and will also take questions.

Kim Susang, Director of Logistics Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "Since the freight truck safety freight rate system is being implemented for the first time, we plan to actively promote industry meetings including the system explanation session," and added, "We will make every effort to ensure the safety freight rate system is quickly established through cooperation with the freight transport industry."
