The Jeju District Court Criminal Division 2 (Chief Judge Jeong Bong-gi) held the 10th trial for the murder case of Go Yoo-jeong’s ex-husband and stepson on the 6th.
During the trial, a recording was revealed in which Go Yoo-jeong said, "Hmm... Should I just kill him (the stepson)!" at around 1:52 p.m. on February 22 last year, a week before the stepson A passed away, while arguing with her current husband.
The prosecution disclosed the recording and explained, "One hour before making that statement, Go Yoo-jeong searched online for news articles about a murder case that occurred four years ago," adding that the case was very similar to the stepson murder case.
The referenced case involved a man in his 50s who suffocated his mother, who was suffering from dementia, by pressing her face with a pillow in 2015.
The prosecution stated, "The autopsy at the time revealed the mother's cause of death as positional asphyxia. Anatomically, it was a case where 'murder' could not be definitively confirmed, and it was revealed through the perpetrator’s confession," and added, "The autopsy report noted that pressing the face of elderly or children with a pillow leaves no traces."

The prosecution also revealed a conversation from March 3, 2019, a day after the stepson’s death, during which Go Yoo-jeong was on the phone with her biological mother, suggesting that she knew the time and cause of death.
The prosecution claimed, "In the call with her mother, Go Yoo-jeong said, 'He died during the night,' 'It’s been a few hours (since he died),' and '(My current husband) didn’t press him while half asleep.'
Go Yoo-jeong reportedly gave detailed explanations about the situation on the day of the incident but responded that she could not remember when asked questions unfavorable to her.
Previously, Go Yoo-jeong was charged with murder for suffocating her stepson A by pressing his body while he was sleeping between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on March 2 last year.
She is also charged with murder, corpse mutilation, and concealment for stabbing her ex-husband Kang with a weapon and killing him at a pension in Jocheon-eup, Jeju City, between 8:10 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. on May 25, and then mutilating and disposing of the body.
