Jeonbuk Province to Conduct 'Love Blood Donation' by Public Officials Until the 24th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 6th that it will carry out a Love Blood Donation Campaign targeting public officials and residents from the 8th of this month to the 24th of next month to overcome difficulties in blood supply during the winter season.
Due to low birth rates and an aging population, the eligible blood donor population in the Jeonbuk area is decreasing every year. In particular, winter is a difficult period for blood supply as students, who account for more than 50% of donors, are on vacation. Currently, Jeollabuk-do's blood stock is at 3.2 days, which is somewhat insufficient to secure the recommended stock of 5 days or more.
Accordingly, Jeonbuk public officials will voluntarily participate in the Love Blood Donation event to share warmth despite the cold and practice life-sharing.
Even those who are not public officials can participate if they are healthy residents aged between 16 and 69. Before donating blood, participants must eat and bring a photo ID to visit the blood donation buses waiting at each city or county office.

A health and medical official from the province said, "Due to rapid aging and low birth rates, the blood donor population is continuously decreasing, causing difficulties in stable blood supply," and added, "We hope residents actively participate in blood donation to protect lives."
