Korean Party's Choi Yeon-hye, Not Running in General Election... "Feeling Infinite Responsibility for Losing Power"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Choi Yeon-hye, a member of the Liberty Korea Party (64, proportional representation), announced on the 6th that she will not run in the general election.
On the afternoon of the same day, Choi held a press conference at the National Assembly Press Hall and stated, "The Liberty Korea Party caused great disappointment to the people due to unexpected incidents in the 20th National Assembly, and as a result, the regime was taken over by unjust and incompetent people, leading to economic collapse and diplomatic and security failures." She added, "Feeling infinite responsibility, I have decided not to run."
She said, "The upcoming general election is the one and only remaining chance to stop the rampant radical left and save Free Korea," and urged, "The Liberty Korea Party must regain the trust of the people through unprecedented reform and innovation, and unite with the people to prevent the collapse of the nation." Choi also said, "The first step toward victory is to recruit a large number of young and talented individuals," and added, "I am willing to step aside for them."
Choi emphasized, "Although I am not running, I will serve diligently in the field to ensure the victory of the free democratic forces in the general election," and stated, "I will devote all my passion to stopping the Moon Jae-in administration's worst policy and the denuclearization that is destroying the future of the Republic of Korea."
Regarding the possibility of joining the Proportional Liberty Korea Party, Choi said, "It has nothing to do with that. (Not running) is my own decision and not for anything else," but added, "I will do anything that helps in any way."
