[CES2020] Samsung Electronics Opens Era of Home Micro LED Displays
[Las Vegas (USA) = Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Samsung Electronics has opened the era of home-use Micro LED screens. From the 7th to the 10th (local time), at the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition 'CES 2020' held in Las Vegas, USA, it unveiled the new product 'The Wall'. The Wall is a next-generation display based on modular Micro LED technology, with no restrictions on bezel, size, aspect ratio, or resolution.
On the 5th, ahead of the opening of CES 2020, Samsung Electronics revealed a large number of new products including home-use models of The Wall in 75, 88, 93, and 110 inches, as well as ultra-large 150 and 292-inch models, at the 'Samsung TV First Look 2020' event held at Caesars Palace Hotel. The Wall, previously considered only an ultra-large screen, has now completed a diverse lineup ranging from home use to commercial use.
Han Jong-hee, President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business Division, unveiled the new 88-inch and 155-inch models of The Wall in front of over 500 reporters gathered from around the world, emphasizing, "The Wall is now becoming the standard in the home entertainment market and perfectly blends into installation environments, being recognized not simply as a screen but as part of the living environment."

The Wall's features include Micro LED technology and modular design. Because Micro LEDs are small in size, they offer superior advantages over conventional displays in brightness, color reproduction, power consumption, and lifespan. The modular design allows modules of fixed size to be tiled together freely to create any desired size.
At the First Look event, in addition to The Wall, the 2020 model 'QLED 8K TV' and lifestyle TVs were also unveiled. In the lifestyle TV category, 32-inch and 75-inch models were added to 'The Frame' lineup, which can display over 1,000 artworks on the screen and be used like a picture frame. 'The Sero', optimized for mobile content and previously launched only in Korea last year, was also introduced.
