Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation Completes 10-ton Class Dedicated Oil Spill Response Vessel 'Hwangyeong 11'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation announced on the 3rd that it has completed the construction of the 10-ton class dedicated oil spill response vessel "Hwangyeong 11" to respond swiftly to marine accidents.
The newly constructed Hwangyeong 11 is a small oil spill response vessel measuring 14.11 meters in length, 4.48 meters in width, and capable of a maximum speed of approximately 32 knots (59 km/h).
The hull is made of eco-friendly marine aluminum alloy, significantly enhancing corrosion resistance and strength. Additionally, by actively incorporating feedback from field personnel, the vessel's workspace was secured to address operational shortcomings.
An official from the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation stated, "The newly constructed small oil spill response vessel will be deployed to Ulsan Port, which has a high risk of accidents, contributing to the improvement of marine pollution accident response capabilities at Ulsan Port."
