‘Love Hat Knitting Campaign’... To Be Donated to Save the Children
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 3rd that the district's Dream Start recently carried out the "Love Hat Knitting Campaign" to save newborns in underdeveloped countries such as Senegal and C?te d'Ivoire in Africa.
In this campaign, parents of children targeted by the Dream Start project added meaning by knitting hats themselves to send to countries with high newborn mortality rates.
The hats made with each person's talent help raise the body temperature of babies who have difficulty using expensive medical equipment such as incubators, protecting their lives from threats such as hypothermia, colds, and pneumonia.
The newborn hats made by the parents will be delivered to Save the Children, an international child rights organization, within this month.
Lee Ji-won, who participated in this campaign, said, "I joined because I liked the fact that I could save newborns who are especially fragile and more vulnerable than my own child," adding, "As I made them little by little, it was fun, and I felt proud each time I completed one, so my depression has improved a lot."
