Publication of a Friendly 'Labor Law Guide' for Gangdong Residents
Available for Verification at Gangdong-gu Labor Rights Center and Local Community Centers Starting from the 6th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has selected the characteristics of each neighborhood in Gangdong-gu based on local statistical data and published the "Friendly Labor Law Guide for Gangdong Residents," which presents labor law cases and information that residents may encounter while working in an easy-to-understand manner.
This book considers various age groups, occupations, employment types, and working conditions throughout life cycles of residents, covering key labor law contents that can be encountered in daily life.
Additionally, the book is published in a workbook format that allows readers to apply the contents according to their own working conditions, enhancing its practicality.
In particular, to be useful for residents familiar with smart mobile environments, QR codes linking to necessary laws and related websites are inserted throughout the book, enabling easy access to in-depth information via smartphones.
It is also designed in a size that fits into a handbag for convenience, making it easy to carry and refer to anytime.
Above all, the guide uses the characteristics of each neighborhood within Gangdong-gu to clearly point out and explain labor laws that workers and employers must know. For example, Myeongil-dong is one of the neighborhoods with the highest proportion of youth population, so it provides detailed guidance on working conditions that adolescent workers need to know.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "There are many laws, systems, and policies regarding labor issues experienced in the workplace, but many suffer damages due to lack of knowledge. I hope this labor law guide will serve as a beacon to illuminate a labor-respecting society so that no residents are left out due to lack of information."
Gangdong-gu has enacted ordinances to protect and promote labor rights and, as the first autonomous district in Seoul to do so, established a directly managed organization called the Labor Rights Center. It provides a one-stop labor welfare service that integrates all functions for residents, including job support, labor, welfare, small business support, and counseling for emotional laborers' grievances.
