Yongsan-gu Publishes 4,000 Copies of 'Life Guide' Booklet
A5 (148mm×210mm) Size, 134 Pages... Introducing Selected 'Core Information' on Civil Complaints, Welfare Policies, and Educational Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] "How do I dispose of garbage?", "How do I register a car?", "Is there a suitable meeting space available?" Various everyday questions. Residents need a guide.
Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjang Hyun) has published and distributed 4,000 copies of the 'Life Guide' booklet to assist residents in their daily lives.
The booklet is A5 size (148mm × 210mm) and 134 pages long. It is designed for easy storage. Starting with a brief history of Yongsan-gu and the district slogan (The Center of the World, Now the Yongsan Era), district goals, and general status, it introduces selected 'key information' for daily life across six chapters.
Chapter 1 covers civil complaints. It deals with overall civil service tasks such as moving-in registration, childbirth support fund application, passport issuance, and resident priority parking application. Local tax matters including property tax, real estate acquisition tax, resident tax, and automobile tax are also summarized at a glance.
Chapter 2 focuses on welfare policies. It covers services by generation and type, including senior job and social activity support projects, basic pension applications, youth counseling welfare center usage, childcare fees and infant tuition applications, and child-rearing allowances.
Chapter 3 introduces educational projects. It gathers essential information for parents, such as the operation of the Dream Tree Complex Town, native speaker foreign language classes, life science classes, direct job experience centers, and youth overseas training programs.
Chapters 4 to 6 focus on safety, health, and culture respectively. From reporting elevator and security light malfunctions to health center usage and Yongsan’s attractions and entertainment, it provides a comprehensive understanding of district administration.
This is the third time the district has published the Life Guide. Since the first edition in 2013, it has been updated every three years. The content has been supplemented mainly with newly established facilities and policies.
The district has distributed the booklet to community service centers, district civil service departments, libraries, and plans to redistribute it to newly moved-in households. The file can also be downloaded from the district website (under the ‘Yongsan Today’ promotional booklet section).
Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "We compiled tailored information for residents into a guidebook," adding, "We will take care of even the small things in daily life to make Yongsan a better place to live."
