[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Sohn Hak-kyu, leader of the Bareunmirae Party, stated on the 2nd regarding his position, "I have never said with my own mouth that I will step down from the leadership," and added, "I don't understand why such rumors are being created."
On the afternoon of the same day, Sohn met with reporters at the Yeouido party office and said, "I will do my best to open a new path in the expanding middle ground, the third political force," and added, "The slogan 'Sohn Hak-kyu must resign' was a chant from those leaving the party."
Regarding former Bareunmirae Party lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo's declaration to return to politics, he said, "I actively welcome Ahn's move toward political reform," and emphasized, "I expect him to play a significant role in winning the general election."
He continued, "As I have mentioned several times through the media, I will do my best to support Ahn's return and settlement."

On the integration with the Alternative New Party and the Party for Democracy and Peace, Sohn said, "If the formation of the third political force becomes a Honam party or a Honam Jaminryun, it will lead to the weakening of the true democratic forces in Honam," and added, "If the power of the third force grows from the center, integration with the Alternative New Party or the Party for Democracy and Peace will naturally be discussed."
