Ulsan City announced on the 2nd that, in collaboration with the Korea e-Sports Association and Nam-gu, it will host the semifinals and finals of the "2019 League of Legends KeSPA CUP ULSAN" from the 3rd to the 5th at the KBS Ulsan Hall.
The "2019 League of Legends KeSPA CUP ULSAN" is the only short-term tournament in Korea that includes both professional and amateur teams. It serves as a power test among teams ahead of the next season and offers a chance to meet promising rookie players.
The tournament opened on the 23rd of last month, with the round of 16 and quarterfinals held at the Nexon Arena in Seoul until the 31st.
The matches are broadcast live on a giant screen, and players' expressions during the games are shown on a separate screen, allowing spectators to experience the vivid atmosphere of the event. As a side event, ground robot battles and racing are showcased in the venue's yard, providing an opportunity to experience new forms of e-sports.
The 2019 KeSPA CUP ULSAN marks the first e-sports pro league final held in Ulsan in over a decade since the StarLeague tournaments held at the Munsu World Cup Stadium Hoban Square in 2007 and 2010. It is expected to play a significant role in improving the perception of e-sports and advancing the local content industry.
Especially as the match determines the winner of League of Legends, one of the most popular games worldwide, it will be broadcast live globally through various internet channels to promote Ulsan.
