[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation has decided to focus on its role as a policy execution agency to achieve visible results of the 7th Gyeonggi Province administration.
On the 2nd, at the opening ceremony held in the auditorium on the 6th floor of the corporation building in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Lee Heon-wook, president of Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation, stated that the corporation will concentrate its capabilities on responsibly solving comprehensive urban issues such as housing and employment problems for Gyeonggi residents.
President Lee emphasized, "In the employment sector, we will implement startup support models and mixed-use developments near workplaces, and also create job environments for the 4th Industrial Revolution, including AI, bio, and broadcasting video industries."
He added, "Regarding the corporation’s fundamental mission of housing issues, we plan to develop a universal housing welfare model that supplies rental housing at reasonable rents, aligned with the direction of proposing universal housing stability. To this end, we will develop about 20 Gyeonggi-type standard models."
Furthermore, he stated, "Rather than the existing profit-oriented business structure, we plan to drastically reform the business structure to secure only the minimum stable funds and return development profits to the residents."

Earlier, Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation received approval from the provincial council for new projects totaling 15.3 trillion won last year, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety also improved the bond issuance system by raising the debt ratio limit from 250% to 300%, significantly expanding the capacity to promote projects. Additionally, the organization and staff have been expanded to lay the foundation for the successful development of the 3rd New Town.
