Korea Railroad to Invest 1.7 Trillion Won in Safety Sector for New Year, Prioritizing Safety First

View original image[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) will invest 1.7 trillion won in the safety sector in the new year.
KORAIL held the '2020 Opening Ceremony' for its executives and employees on the 2nd at the main auditorium of its Daejeon headquarters.
At the ceremony, KORAIL President Son Byung-seok stated, "We must create a safe railway environment where the public can use the railway with peace of mind," and added, "To that end, KORAIL plans to allocate a budget of 1.7 trillion won this year to the safety sector."
President Son also emphasized the modernization of maintenance equipment at railway sites and the establishment of safety-first measures for workers to strengthen safety. He urged executives and employees to apply technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) to railway sites.
He shared the 2020 management policies with executives and employees, including realizing social value through service innovation, securing financial soundness, developing technology and expanding overseas business, and implementing a culture of mutual respect within the organization.
After the ceremony, KORAIL executives, including President Son, paid respects at the National Daejeon Cemetery and then visited 'Cheoldo Iwonseong Station' in Okcheon-gun, Chungbuk Province, to offer incense.

Meanwhile, prior to the opening ceremony, KORAIL held a 'Safety Practice Resolution Meeting' where they pledged absolute compliance with regulations and rules, thorough verification and consultation, and choosing the best methods for safety to strengthen field-centered safety.
