KT Offers 6-Month Discount on Fees for Smartphone Purchases by Children Under 12 Years Old
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT is launching the 'Our Child's First Smartphone' promotion, offering a discount of up to 11,000 KRW per month on smartphone fees for children aged 12 and under who purchase a smartphone to celebrate the New Year. The discount is available for six months.
This event is a New Year promotion designed to reduce the burden on customers aged 12 and under who are purchasing their first smartphone and to help lower household communication expenses. The subscription period is from January 2 to March 31. Customers who newly subscribe or change devices to purchase a smartphone with the Y Junior plan (19,800 KRW including VAT) or higher can receive the discount benefits by joining the promotion.
To join the promotion, there must be at least one KT customer in the family using a monthly plan of 33,000 KRW or more. If the monthly fee of the parent or family line is 69,000 KRW or more, a discount of 11,000 KRW per month is applied. Customers subscribed to plans between 33,000 KRW and less than 69,000 KRW receive a monthly discount of 3,300 KRW. The fee discount is provided for six months starting from the month after joining the promotion.
The Y Junior plan, popular among elementary school students, offers 900MB of basic data per month at 19,800 KRW (including VAT). Even after using up the monthly data, a data safety service allows SNS and web surfing at a speed of 400Kbps. KT subscribers can designate two lines for unlimited voice calls.
Park Hyun-jin, Executive Director of KT’s 5G Business Division, stated, "The ‘Our Child's First Smartphone’ promotion launched today is expected to be an opportunity to reduce the fee burden for customers aged 12 and under purchasing their first smartphone." He added, "We will continue to introduce differentiated products that can lessen the communication fee burden."
