Amazon's Jeff Bezos Maintains World's Richest Status Despite Divorce Asset Split
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, maintained his position as the world's richest person despite the division of assets following his divorce.
CNN reported on the 1st (local time), citing Bloomberg's billionaire index. It stated that Bezos' wealth was recorded at $115 billion (132.94 trillion KRW) as of the end of last year. Microsoft (MS) founder Bill Gates was ranked second with a fortune of $113 billion.
Many had predicted that Bezos would lose his position as the world's richest person after divorcing MacKenzie Bezos, with whom he had been married for 25 years. In fact, due to Bezos' divorce and the rise in MS stock prices, Gates briefly became the world's richest person again in November last year after two years. Bezos' ex-wife MacKenzie also ranked 25th among the world's wealthiest with $37 billion in assets.
American investors Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, ranked third and fourth, respectively.
