The 1st Asia Bond Forum ȨÀ¸·Î

the 1st asian bond forum

INVITATION

Following the worldwide financial crisis, the global economy is facing new challenges through a resurgence of inflationary pressures in emerging countries. What has transpired are the worst financial deficits in history, with growing uncertainty in several western nations.

While there are growing demands for attracting an influx of investment in emerging Asian countries due to higher prospects of economic returns, the capital tends to be mainly focused on government bonds of more developed countries, with a preference for safer assets.

Facilitating the Asian bond markets is important especially for the harmonization of demands and supply with regards to the flow of capital in Asia. Moreover, an emphasis on an institutionalization (standardization) of a financial safety net is long overdue.

To accelerate the evolution of the Asian bond markets and sustain Asia¡¯s high growth rates, it is vital to strengthen market infrastructure, institutionalize bond trading, with the goal of creating more robust local capital markets, ie. issuing local currency bonds.

In an effort to envision the future of Asian bond markets at a time of momentous change, the Asia Business Daily is planning to convene the First Asian Bond Forum based on the theme of ¡°Bonding Asia: Cooperation in Rising Asian Bond Markets.¡±

The forum will be a big step towards promoting and integrating Asia¡¯s bond markets through regional cooperation. This is an attempt to bolster the image as well as face the realities of a safe Asian financial market place. This current environment of economic unease ripens the conditions for an integrated Asian bond market that would not only benefit issuers and investors in Asia, but throughout the rest of the world.

To this end, we would like to invite you to the 1st Asian Bond Forum where various issues in promotion and integration in Asian bond markets will be discussed, and where the bonding in Asia will take us.
