Amid a triple challenge of the temporary growth stagnation in the electric vehicle market (chasm), aggressive low-cost competition from China, and the possible launch of a second Donald Trump administration, domestic battery companies expressed confidence, projecting a recovery in performance starting in the second half of this year.

On the 5th, at the opening of 'InterBattery 2025' held at COEX in Seoul, Kim Dongmyung, CEO of LG Energy Solution, told reporters, "After hitting the bottom in the first quarter, the market situation is expected to improve in the second half," adding, "Now is the time to prepare thoroughly for when the market stabilizes and demand increases in the future."

Kim highlighted the intellectual property (IP) secured by LG Energy Solution as a new weapon. He emphasized, "We have the largest number of intellectual property rights in the industry and will leverage them to gain a competitive edge over Chinese companies." Regarding the recent tariff policies of the Trump administration, he said, "Fundamentally, I understand it as a policy to encourage domestic production in the US," adding, "Since we have many factories in the US, I expect we will benefit from being early entrants."
