At 9:49 a.m. on the 25th, a collapse occurred during a highway bridge beam installation in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, causing 10 people to fall and become trapped.

The Anseong Fire Department in Gyeonggi Province held a briefing at 47-10 Dorim-ri, Ipjang-myeon, Cheonan, and explained the situation.

The fire authorities immediately issued Level 2 emergency response, deploying 297 personnel and 99 vehicles. Of the 10 people who fell, 9 were rescued, with 2 confirmed dead. Search operations are ongoing for the one person still buried.

It has been confirmed that among the total of 10 people, 8 are Korean and 2 are Chinese nationals.

The injured have been transported to nearby university hospitals and other medical facilities.

The accident is presumed to have occurred while moving the beam support in the downward direction for the installation of the bridge deck, before it was properly secured.

Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "I have ordered the mobilization of all available resources for a swift rescue," and added, "Since this is a border area with Cheonan, we will work together to ensure a complete response to the accident."
