Chinese Ambassador to North Korea Emphasizes “Expanding Cooperation”

The Chinese Ambassador to North Korea has reaffirmed his commitment to expanding economic cooperation between China and North Korea by visiting a food factory in Wonsan, Gangwon Province. He also paid respects at several cemeteries for Chinese soldiers who fought in the Korean War and personally inspected related maintenance projects.
According to the Embassy of China in North Korea on the 16th, Chinese Ambassador Wang Yajun visited the Songdowon General Food Factory in Wonsan, Gangwon Province, North Korea, on the 14th. Established in 2011, this factory is reported to cover an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, equipped with 12 production lines, and produces over 340 types of foods, including snacks and beverages.

View original imageAfter touring the factory, Ambassador Wang referred to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s “20×10 Regional Development Policy,” which aims to build modern factories, hospitals, and convenience facilities in 20 cities and counties each year for 10 years to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas. Ambassador Wang assessed that “the construction of factories across various regions of North Korea is actively progressing, and the living standards of local residents are improving.” He further stated, “China is willing to strengthen economic exchanges and cooperation with North Korea so that the socialist construction efforts of both countries can achieve new progress.”
From the 14th to the 15th, Ambassador Wang visited cemeteries for Chinese soldiers who participated in the Korean War, located in Sinpyeong County, North Hwanghae Province, as well as Wonsan City, Chonnae County, and Muncheon City in Gangwon Province. The Chinese embassy announced that, in accordance with agreements between North Korea and China, a total of six Chinese military cemeteries will be maintained and established this year. The North Korean side explained that the basic construction at the Sinpyeong County cemetery has been completed and is scheduled for completion in early July. At the Wonsan Sinsong-dong, Chonnae County Ryongdam District, and Muncheon City Gangcheol-dong cemeteries, surveying and design work have been completed, and construction is expected to begin soon.
