Advertisements to Appear for ChatGPT Users in Korea... Applies to Free and Low-Cost Plans
ChatGPT Advertising Pilot Expands to New Regions Including Korea
Going forward, advertisements will be displayed to customers in Korea who use the free or low-cost subscription plans of ChatGPT.
On May 8, OpenAI announced that it will expand its ChatGPT advertising pilot program to include regions such as Korea. The pilot, which is currently underway in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, is set to expand within the next few weeks to Korea, the United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil, and Mexico.
The advertising pilot targets adult users of ChatGPT's free or low-cost "Go" subscription plans. Advertisements will not be shown to users of the Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu subscription plans.
OpenAI explained that the advertisements are clearly separated from ChatGPT responses and do not influence the content of the answers. Advertisers cannot access users' conversation content or personal information; they can only view performance metrics such as ad impressions and clicks.
The advertisements will be marked as sponsored content. Users can choose to hide ads, provide feedback, and manage their ad personalization settings. OpenAI also stated that the system is designed to prevent advertisements from being displayed during conversations on sensitive or regulated topics. Additionally, advertisements will not be shown to accounts identified as or predicted to belong to minors.
