Gyeonggi Education Office Holds Briefing Session on May 14 for Schools Selected for Space Restructuring Project
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is strengthening its on-site support to enhance the educational functions of school spaces and establish a foundation for student-centered future education.
On May 14, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held a briefing session for schools selected for the “2026 Gyeonggi-type Space Restructuring Project” at its Southern Office in Suwon. The event was attended by over 100 participants, including administrators and staff from the schools, as well as officials in charge of related work from local education support offices.
During the briefing session, the Office introduced: ▲ the background and policy direction of the space restructuring project, ▲ the need to establish a future-oriented learning environment linked to the curriculum, ▲ the project timeline and stage-specific support system, and ▲ guidelines for creating smart learning environments.
Additionally, through special lectures by an official from the Korea Institute of Educational Facility Safety and current teachers, the session shared real-life case studies and on-site experiences related to project implementation.

View original imageThe Gyeonggi-type Space Restructuring Project aims to transform aging school facilities, which have been in use for over 40 years, into future-oriented educational environments. This year, 22 schools have been selected for the project, and a total of 208 schools have been chosen from 2021 up to the present in 2026.
Following the briefing session, the Office plans to continue providing customized support for each stage of the project through training programs to strengthen the capacity of school staff, regional communication and on-site support teams, and on-site consulting visits to schools.

Furthermore, after project completion, the Office will systematically support the entire process, including the operation of educational activities utilizing the newly transformed school spaces, to ensure that the future-oriented teaching and learning environment is firmly established in schools.
