Spotify: "Global Listening of K-Rock and Indie Increased This Year"
This year, K-Rock and indie genre music have gained popularity on the global music streaming platform Spotify.
According to the "2025 Wrapped Year-End Summary" released by Spotify on December 10, streaming of Korean indie and rock genres in the global market increased by 68% and 16%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
On the global chart, DAY6 claimed three out of the top five songs in the rock genre. "You Were Beautiful" ranked first, while "Happy" and "Congratulations" took fourth and fifth place, respectively. "Back to Me" by The Rose ranked second, and "Drowning" by WOODZ came in third.
In the indie genre, "Close Yet Far" by Car, the Garden ranked first, followed by "Eternity, As Always" by Lidoor and "1:05" by The Black Skirts. Hanrorro secured fourth and fifth place with "I Will Fall in Love" and "Ipchun."
In South Korea, DAY6 was recorded as the most-streamed artist in the rock and indie genres overall. The Black Skirts, Bolbbalgan4, Hanrorro, and 10cm ranked second through fifth. The most-streamed song domestically was "Yours" by Damons Year. Other top songs included "Happy" by DAY6, "Close Yet Far" by Car, the Garden, "Time of Our Life" by DAY6, and "You Were Beautiful" by DAY6.
This year, Spotify introduced indie and rock artists through its own programs such as RADAR and Fresh Finds.
