SeoulTech and Korea Mint Sign MOA for Industry-Academia Cooperation on Commemorative Medals
Joint Development of Currency-Themed Goods and Expanded Collaboration
On May 8, Seoul National University of Science and Technology announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation to strengthen industry-academia cooperation and to plan creative products such as commemorative medals and currency-themed goods.

View original imageThe signing ceremony took place the previous day in the President’s Office and the roundtable conference room on the third floor of the university headquarters at Seoul National University of Science and Technology in Gongneung-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul. Both institutions discussed ways to cooperate on the development of commemorative medals and currency-themed goods before signing the agreement.
The ceremony was attended by Donghwan Kim, President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology; Dongho Kang, Vice President for Education and Research; Bobong Hwang, Director of External Cooperation; Gyeryoon Han, Dean of the College of Art and Design; and Jongsun Kim, Head of the Department of Metal Craft and Design. From Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, attendees included Changhoon Sung, President; Soohyun Bae, Director of Sales; Eunyeong Bang, Head of Product Planning; and Jongwoo Lim, Deputy Head of Product Planning.
Through this agreement, the two organizations have agreed to collaborate in a wide range of areas, including creative product planning for commemorative medals and currency-themed goods, commercialization and exhibition initiatives, online and offline promotional cooperation, and the discovery of new joint projects.
In particular, based on the industry-academia linked curriculum of the Department of Metal Craft and Design at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, student-driven projects will be operated to provide students with practical, hands-on education and experience in collaboration with public institutions.

Donghwan Kim, President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, said, "Through this agreement, we expect to establish an industry-academia cooperation model that combines creative design and technology, thereby strengthening students' practical capabilities."
