Maxis is a leading integrated telecommunications service provider in Malaysia, with 10 million subscribers in the mobile sector. In addition to its fixed-line and broadband network services, Maxis has declared its transition into a 'digital solutions company' and is investing in the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI, cloud, and cybersecurity.
This export of the ixi-O service will be carried out as software-as-a-service (SaaS). SaaS refers to a method where software is accessed via the cloud over the internet without the need for installation on a PC. The agreement with Maxis marks the first case in which the global expansion strategy for AI services, announced by LG Uplus at Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC 2026) in March, has progressed to actual overseas business discussions. At MWC 2026, CEO Hong stated in a press briefing, "We are promoting a model to sell ixi-O as software to overseas telecommunications companies."
ixi-O will be launched in Malaysia this year, customized for the local user environment. LG Uplus plans to leverage the multilingual processing capabilities of its on-device AI engine to provide an AI call experience tailored to the local customer environment. With the launch of ixi-O, both companies are also considering expanding their business areas to include AI-based smart home services and business-to-business (B2B) solutions.
