Gwangju City Holds Child-Friendly City Promotion Committee Meeting...Discusses Four-Year Master Plan
On May 20, Gyeonggi Gwangju City held a Child-Friendly City Promotion Committee meeting at the Vision Hall of City Hall, where they discussed the progress of the research project for establishing strategies to create a child-friendly city, as well as major child-related policies and current issues.

View original imageDuring the meeting, letters of appointment were presented to new committee members, followed by an interim report on the "Research Project for Establishing Strategies to Create a Child-Friendly City," which will inform the four-year master plan to be implemented from 2027 to 2030.
The interim report shared the results of an analysis of children's needs, the findings from the child-friendly environment assessment, key project proposals, and models for change derived from these results. The city focused its discussions on strengthening the implementation system to prepare for the renewal of the child-friendly city certification, as well as on developing policies that reflect the diverse needs of the local community and children.
Committee members offered their opinions on major child-related issues, key tasks for certification renewal, and post-management measures.

Gwangju City plans to incorporate the feedback provided at this meeting into the research project for further improvement and aims to finalize the four-year implementation plan through a final report session in June.
Kim Chungbeom, acting mayor of Gwangju City, stated, "This was a meaningful occasion to review the policy direction reflecting children's voices and local characteristics," adding, "We will create a happier city through policies that children can truly experience and feel."
