Kyobo Life Insurance Expands Birdhouse Installation, Plogging, and Forest Trail Creation... "ESG Achievements"
"Responsible Corporate Citizenship... Realizing Sustainable Management"
On May 20, Kyobo Life Insurance announced that this year it will expand its employee environmental volunteer activities around three main pillars: ecological plogging and birdhouse making, community history and culture plogging, and the creation of urban forest trails.
On the 8th of last month, Kyobo Life Insurance employees carefully installed artificial birdhouses for wild birds on trees at the Gyeongan Stream Wetland Ecological Park in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. Recently, a parent great tit bird nested in one of the birdhouses installed by the employees, successfully hatching nine chicks. In addition, by adding an ecological theme to the history and culture plogging activities, the employees have been engaging in environmental clean-up at key urban ecological sites, beginning with the Cheonggyecheon Biotope (a habitat space for living organisms) in March, and continuing at Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park, Waryong Park, and Baeksasil Valley in Samcheong Park.
For every volunteer team that participates, a 2-meter-tall metasequoia tree is matched and donated to the Jungnangcheon riverside. By planting 280 meters worth of trees each year for five years, the company plans to complete a 'Kyobo Life Insurance Employee Metasequoia Forest Trail' of approximately 1.5 kilometers by 2028.
