Pledges Will Be Personally Overseen Even After Election Victory

On May 20, Jeong Younggil, the People Power Party candidate for Seongju County Mayor, announced his “Vision for the Next 100 Years of Seongju,” accelerating preparations for the June 3 local elections.

Candidate Jeong presented tailored pledges for each town and township as follows:

▲Byeokjin-myeon: Early construction of a low-carbon, eco-friendly agriculture and community sports administrative complex town / Renovation of the Byeokjin Community Sports Park with upgrades to the foot volleyball and multipurpose fields, revitalization of community sports / Promotion of low-carbon eco-friendly farming methods (such as organic melons), support for certification and market expansion to increase farm income

▲Geumsugangsan-myeon: Establishment of Seongju Lake as a leisure and healing tourism hub, enhancement of water leisure and relaxation facilities at Seongju Lake, maintenance of walking trails and trekking courses / Development of Seongju Lake observatory and attraction of stay-over tourists / Priority upgrades to water and sewage systems in vulnerable areas

Minimizing environmental damage while maintaining Pocheon Valley, significant expansion of parking lots, restrooms, and safety facilities / Upgrading the Seonbi Sansu-gil at Gayasan, developing the trail market area at Beopjeon-ri, Gayasan / Operation of small-scale “Experience Living in Seongju” rural migration and farming trial houses, support for settlement

Creation of eco-healing stays and meditation forest trails at the foot of Mount Gayasan, fostering wellness tourism, supporting online sales through branding of direct sales centers for local specialties such as Gayasan lettuce, and promoting the rice industry by utilizing the Grasshopper Festival

Construction of a multi-purpose community center on the township office site / Strengthening the function of the agricultural machinery rental branch, alleviating the farming burden during busy seasons

Continued pursuit of UNESCO World Heritage listing for the Royal Prince Tombs of King Sejong, improvement of the surrounding landscape and convenience facilities / Establishment of a Hanok Stay complex and market street in the Hangae Folk Village, improvement of odor facilities through space maintenance projects / Expansion and paving of access roads for Wolhang melon farms, road upgrades to strengthen competitiveness / Urban development: Expansion of Wolhang Anpoli city area and infrastructure

Completion of Seongju-eup urban regeneration New Deal, creation of a pedestrian-friendly commercial and residential center / Modernization of Byeolbit Market, introduction of weekend and seasonal night markets to boost nighttime economy / Establishment of a children’s multi-cultural center (library, indoor playground, family cultural space) / Creation of a children’s water playground in the historical theme park / Deployment of pediatric medical professionals

Restoration of Daegacheon aquatic ecosystem, phased development of the “Daegacheon Simri-gil” walking trail incorporating residents’ feedback / Introduction of smart waterway management systems to alleviate water shortages and management burden, improve farming convenience / Creation of Chilbongji ecological riverside park / Attraction of private investment for the second phase of the Simsan Cultural Theme Park (stay-type accommodations) / Promotion of a memorial monument for the late Jeong Geonyong

Jeong Younggil stated, “Starting with the region-specific customized pledges included in the campaign booklet, I will continue to announce eight main policy pledges by sector. During the election period, I will personally visit the residents to explain livelihood policies, and I promise to directly address and supplement any shortcomings in the pledges even after being elected. Furthermore, through coordination of pledges with People Power Party candidates for provincial and county councils, we will pursue a 'one team' strategy to secure an overwhelming victory and win the trust of the residents in this local election.”
