Powertrain Upgrades and New Terrain Mode Added
Gasoline Model Starts at KRW 29,050,000
Hybrid Model Starts at KRW 32,050,000
KG Mobility (KGM) announced on May 20 that it has launched the "New Torres," a classic sports utility vehicle (SUV) model, and has commenced official sales. The New Torres is a facelifted version of the Torres first released in 2022, featuring upgrades in the powertrain and the addition of a terrain mode, among other improvements in driving performance and convenience features to enhance overall quality.
The exterior maintains the brand’s robust design identity while adding a touch of refinement. At the front, the horizontally extended vertical-type radiator grille and bumper grille pattern seamlessly connect with the headlamps, creating a wider and more dynamic look. At the rear, a layered rear bumper structure, separated from the body, adds to the sense of solidity. Options include diamond-cut wheels ranging from 17 inches up to 20 inches, completing a dynamic style.
The interior has been improved for usability with ergonomic design. The newly designed center console ensures stability in any driving environment and enhances practicality and storage convenience. The two-spoke double D-cut style steering wheel offers a sportier feel and improved grip, while the lever-type electronic gear knob and integrated climate control panel with display make operation and usability even more convenient.
Six exterior color options are available, including the new Plasma Shadow, Grand White, Latte Greige, Forest Green, Dandy Blue, and Space Black. The interior comes in three color schemes: gray two-tone, black, and brown.
The gasoline model combines a 1.5 T-GDI engine with an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission to deliver a maximum output of 170 horsepower and a peak torque of 30.6 kg·m, with a combined fuel efficiency of 11.0 km/l (for 2WD, 17-inch tires).
Notably, the new Torres is equipped with KGM’s advanced terrain mode technology. This feature optimizes traction and steering performance according to road conditions to ensure stable driving, offering three specialized modes: Sand, Mud, and Snow & Gravel. Including standard driving modes Normal, Sport, and Winter, as well as a 2WD mode for enhanced fuel efficiency in urban driving, the New Torres supports a total of seven driving modes.
The next-generation integrated UX/UI platform "Athena 2.5" infotainment system delivers improved visibility and intuitive operation. The drive and terrain modes feature a graphics-focused user interface, allowing drivers to quickly check driving information at a glance. High-resolution graphics and icons, tailored to each mode, make it easier to recognize the vehicle’s status during operation.
Convenience features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as wireless software updates (OTA). Advanced safety features are also included, such as Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISA), Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BSA), and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCTA).
The retail price for the gasoline model is KRW 29,050,000 for the T5 trim and KRW 32,410,000 for the T7 trim. For the hybrid model, the T5 is KRW 32,050,000 and the T7 is KRW 36,510,000. (Based on 3.5% individual consumption tax and eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits applied.)
KGM is offering a 12-month interest-free installment program with a 50% down payment, as well as a financial program with no down payment at interest rates of 4.5% to 5.3% for terms of 48 to 72 months to reduce the burden on buyers. Returning customers who repurchase a KGM vehicle can receive up to KRW 300,000 in loyalty benefits, and customers trading in used cars can also receive up to KRW 300,000 in additional benefits.
In addition, KGM has launched the "Actian 2027" and "Torres EVX 2027," further strengthening the competitiveness of its overall SUV lineup. Both models feature a new interior design and the Athena 2.5 infotainment system for greater user convenience. The "Actian 2027" gasoline model is also equipped with the Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission and terrain mode for enhanced driving performance.
