Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education to Intensively Accept Community Participation Budget Proposals for One Month
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is now intensively accepting Community Participation Budget proposals.
The provincial Office of Education announced that it will be accepting proposals intensively for one month, from May 20 to June 19, through the "Community Participation Budget Proposal Board" on its official website.
The Community Participation Budget System is a fiscal democracy initiative designed to enhance transparency and accountability in budget management by ensuring the participation of local residents in the budgeting process.
Since 2010, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has operated the Community Participation Budget System, continually striving to ensure that the opinions of residents are reflected in the education budget of Gyeonggi Province.
Last year, a total of 833 suggestions were received through the website and regional councils. After review and resolution by the committee, 45 proposals were selected, including expansion of basic academic support, school financial and economic education, and the design of recycling centers for new schools.
Of the selected proposals, 44 (totaling approximately 578.6 billion won) were reflected in the main budget for the 2026 fiscal year after budget deliberation by the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.
This year, proposal categories include education administration, primary and secondary education, lifelong education, early childhood education, special education, and other areas under the jurisdiction of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
