Namyangju City Launches Full-Scale "Geunyang Dream" Food Support to Address Welfare Blind Spots
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 19 that it will fully launch the "Geunyang Dream" project, which allows any citizen experiencing economic difficulties to receive basic food support without prior procedures.

Considering Namyangju's polycentric city characteristics, with a large area and a population dispersed across several regions, the city has established three core models for the "Namyangju-Style Geunyang Dream" initiative.
The project consists of three components to improve accessibility and convenience for citizens: the hub-type "Geunyang Dream Market," the community-type "Geunyang Dream Snack Bar," and the mobile "Geunyang Dream Truck."
The "Geunyang Dream Market" operates through hub stores that provide food support. At the Namyangju Food Bank located in Byeollae-dong, carefully selected groceries are stocked for users' convenience, and on-site basic counseling and product support are provided.
In Wabu-eup, the hub for the southern region, the Southern Hope Care Center plans to collaborate with Wabu-eup and the local Community Security Council to establish an additional site.
The "Geunyang Dream Snack Bar" is being implemented in Dasan 1-dong, located in the western region. The Western Hope Care Center utilizes the existing "Hamkkeramen Corner," allowing citizens in crisis to visit without burden, have instant noodles, and naturally connect to welfare counseling.
The "Geunyang Dream Truck" is scheduled to start operations within the year, visiting key locations in Hwado-eup in the eastern region and Jinjeop-eup in the northern region.
The "Geunyang Dream Market" and "Geunyang Dream Snack Bar" began operations on May 19, and the project will gradually expand to other regions as well.
Meanwhile, citizens who feel burdened by public attention and find it difficult to apply in person can privately request support through the "Welfare Crisis Notification App." Applications received will be promptly followed up with counseling and assessment by the respective town or district office, and linked to the necessary welfare services.
