Notably, since this was the last festival to be held before the merger of Jeonnam and Gwangju, the event was particularly meaningful as it once again proved the strong competitiveness of sports for students with disabilities in Jeonnam.
Most notably, the outstanding performances of multi-medalists stood out. On the track, Guk Sarang from Sorim School, who was a double champion last year, swept the 1500m, 800m, and 400m relay events this year, achieving the feat of winning three gold medals. Hwang Dayeon from Hampyeong Yeonghwa School also claimed gold in the high school girls' 1500m, 800m, and 400m relay events, becoming a triple gold medalist.
Additionally, Noh Yeonhee from Eunkwang School once again achieved double gold in the 100mb and 200mb events, while Kang Yurim from Deoksu School also won double gold in the 400m and 400m relay, demonstrating consistent performance.
In powerlifting, Lee Seunghoon from Deoksu School dominated by winning the men's +100kg powerlifting, squat, and deadlift events, claiming three gold medals with overwhelming strength. There was also great news in swimming.
Jung Woochan from Yeosu Yangji Elementary School took first place in both the 50m and 100m freestyle, becoming a double champion, while Yoon Hamin from Eunkwang School also elevated the status of the Jeonnam team by winning the 100mb and 200mb events.
This valuable achievement was supported by the meticulous assistance of the Provincial Office of Education. The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education has proactively provided support, including covering expenses for athletes and assistants (managers, coaches, chaperones), as well as training and equipment costs, to ensure that athletes can focus solely on their training and competitions in a stable environment.
