Hadong County to Accept Applications for 2nd High Oil Price Damage Support Fund Starting May 18
Support Fund of 250,000 Won Per Person for Over 30,000 Residents
Expected to Boost the Local Economy
Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province, will be accepting applications for the "2nd High Oil Price Damage Support Fund" from May 18 to July 3, 2026.
This support fund will be provided to 70% of the population, excluding the top 30% income bracket, in accordance with the government's high oil price response policy. In Hadong County, a total of 30,114 people have been selected as recipients. The support amount is 250,000 won per person.
Applications can be submitted both online and offline. Applicants may choose to receive the funds via credit card, debit card, prepaid card, or Hadong Love Gift Certificates (mobile or paper type). Online applications are available through card company websites and mobile apps, while offline applications can be submitted at bank branches.
To reduce congestion during the first week of applications, from May 18 to 22, a day-of-the-week system based on the last digit of the birth year will be implemented. Applications will be accepted as follows: Monday for those ending in 1 or 6, Tuesday for 2 or 7, Wednesday for 3 or 8, Thursday for 4 or 9, and Friday for 5 or 0.
The support fund can be used at merchants affiliated with the Hadong Love Gift Certificate program and at small businesses with annual sales of 3 billion won or less. For residents’ convenience, it can also be used at gas stations with annual sales exceeding 3 billion won. However, usage is restricted for certain business categories such as large supermarkets, department stores, online shopping malls, and entertainment venues.
Additionally, restrictions have been eased to allow usage at Hanaro Mart and local food direct sales stores in areas other than Hadong-eup, Hwagae-myeon, Jingyo-myeon, and Okjong-myeon. The usage period is until August 31, 2026, and any unused balance after this date will be automatically forfeited.
The county has urged residents to be vigilant against voice phishing and smishing scams that may occur during the application process. Since government agencies, the county office, card companies, and banks do not send text messages containing application-related URLs, residents should exercise extra caution if they receive similar messages.
