AI Tool Usage Fees to Be Supported for 500 Game Companies
Up to 50 Million Won in Support
Applications Open Until May 27
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 18th that they signed a business agreement on the 6th with the Korea Mobile Game Association, Korea Game Developers Association, Korea Artificial Intelligence Game Association, and Korea Association of Game Industry to promote support for the transition to artificial intelligence (AI) in the game production environment.
This initiative was established to respond to rapidly changing production environments, such as intensifying global competition and the proliferation of generative AI, and to ease the burden of adopting AI. In a demand survey conducted by the Korea Creative Content Agency in March for the industry, subscription costs (81.9%) were cited as the greatest difficulty in transitioning to AI.
The support scale is as follows: approximately 200 companies with 1 to 2 employees (up to 5 million won per company), about 150 companies with 3 to 10 employees (up to 10 million won), about 100 companies with 11 to 20 employees (up to 20 million won), and about 50 companies with 21 to 50 employees (up to 50 million won). Applications are open until the 27th, and companies will be selected through a public lottery. For domestically developed AI tools, 100% of the supply price will be supported, while for overseas-developed tools, 90% will be supported.
