The Korea Fair Trade Commission announced on May 15 that it will appoint Geunseong Kim, Director of Deliberation and Management, as the new Standing Commissioner, and Jaeho Moon, Director General of the Cartel Investigation Bureau, as the new Director of Investigation and Management, effective May 18.

View original imageGeunseong Kim, the new Standing Commissioner, entered public service in 2001 after passing the 40th bar exam. He has held several key positions, including Director General of the Market Surveillance Bureau, Director of General Investigation, and Director of General Deliberation. Notably, during his tenure as Director of Deliberation and Management, he significantly raised the minimum standard rate for imposing fines and strengthened penalties for repeat offenders, which has been credited with enhancing the effectiveness of economic sanctions. He also contributed to ensuring the legitimacy and efficiency of deliberation procedures by introducing a summary review process for minor fine cases.

Jaeho Moon, the new Director of Investigation and Management, began his public service career in 1998 after passing the 41st civil service exam. He has served as Spokesperson, Distribution Policy Director, and Director of Planning and Finance, and most recently led the Cartel Investigation Bureau, directing investigations into collusion in sectors closely related to the public. As Distribution Policy Director, he demonstrated his field-oriented administrative capabilities by improving unfair trade practices in the franchise, distribution, and agency sectors, and shortening the time required for case processing.
