Confined Space Safety Management Training
The Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office (Director Kim Junhui) and the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Director Jeong Jongdeok) conducted "Confined Space Asphyxiation Accident Prevention Training" on May 14 at Busan City Hall for local government officials in charge of manhole construction and construction site supervisors.
This training was organized to prevent asphyxiation accidents that can occur during confined space operations, such as manhole work, and to strengthen safety management capabilities at underground facility construction sites, including manholes and sewers.
The training focused on practical safety management measures that can be applied on-site, centering on the three essential safety rules for preventing asphyxiation accidents: measuring the concentration of hazardous gases in confined spaces, implementing ventilation, and wearing respiratory protective equipment.
In addition, the program emphasized the risks of failing to follow safety rules through analysis of real accident cases, as well as instruction on proper rescue methods and response procedures in the event of an asphyxiation accident. The session also provided information on legislative changes that came into effect in December last year.
