Samsung Heavy Industries Wins Order for Two LNG Carriers Worth KRW 750.5 Billion
A Total of 19 Vessels Ordered This Year, Including 9 LNG Carriers
Samsung Heavy Industries announced on May 14 that it had secured an order for two LNG carriers from an Oceania-based shipping company for KRW 750.5 billion.
This contract follows the order for an LNG Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (LNG-FSRU) announced on May 4. Industry observers note that this demonstrates Samsung Heavy Industries is strengthening its competitiveness across the entire LNG value chain, with a focus on LNG carriers.
So far this year, Samsung Heavy Industries has won orders for a total of 19 vessels worth USD 3.9 billion, including 9 LNG carriers (including 1 LNG-FSRU), 2 ethane carriers, 2 gas carriers, 2 container ships, and 4 crude oil tankers.
