Bae Nakho, the People Power Party candidate for Mayor of Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, officially registered as a candidate for the 9th nationwide local elections on May 14, marking the start of his full-scale election campaign.
Upon registering, Bae stated, "I will shape the future of Gimcheon together with its citizens," pledging to create visible changes through a comprehensive development plan that citizens can truly experience.

For this election, Bae has announced ten key pledges: strengthening citizen safety, early completion of the No.1 General Industrial Complex and attracting new businesses, improving residential conditions for workers, enhancing agricultural competitiveness, expanding support for youth and newlyweds, building a city ideal for raising children, establishing an integrated care system for seniors, expanding cultural, sports, and tourism infrastructure, revitalizing the old downtown, and promoting balanced regional development.
Additionally, he plans to support small business owners and present detailed pledges tailored to the characteristics of each district, town, and neighborhood, aiming to strengthen balanced regional development and practical policies that directly impact daily life.
Bae emphasized, "Although the past year was a short period, I was able to directly communicate with citizens in the field and identify both the potential and the challenges of Gimcheon. With well-prepared policies and strong execution, I will make Gimcheon a city where citizens can truly feel the changes."
He continued, "With the determination to 'listen more, work harder, and act more decisively for a brighter future for Gimcheon,' I will become a mayor who listens widely to citizens' voices and finds solutions on the ground. Together with the citizens, I will build a safer and more livable Gimcheon—a city where future generations will want to stay."
Candidate registration for the 9th nationwide local elections is open from May 14 to May 15, with official campaigning running from May 21 until midnight before Election Day. Early voting will take place nationwide on May 29 and 30, allowing voters to cast their ballots at any early voting station regardless of their registered address. The main voting day is June 3.
