This event has been organized to commemorate UNESCO's International Day of Light. The theme of this symposium is "Light for a Sustainable Future." It will address interdisciplinary convergence research topics such as AI-powered microscopy, spectral imaging, medical imaging, media art, and practices for cultural healing.
Researchers from Chung-Ang University will also unveil the international collaborative project "Medicine Buddha NanoMandala," which they conducted with UCLA researchers and artists. This project expands upon the work of Victoria Vesna, a professor at UCLA.
In the session "Imaging Across Scales in Art & Science," Professors Oh Ji-hyung and Han Sang-im of Chung-Ang University and UCLA researchers will present their research findings on connecting heterogeneous resolution images, ranging from millimeters (mm) to nanometers (nm), through AI-based upscaling and deblurring technologies.
The session "Collaboration Across Disciplines, Cultures and Scales" will explore how scientific technology and cultural practices serve as mediators between worlds of different scales.
