Kim Sangsoo, Acting Mayor of Namyangju City, and the heads of relevant departments participated in the inspection. The participants visited Sinhachon Village in Toegyewon-eup, the Jingun Drainage Pump Station, and the site of the vehicle barrier installation project at the Dasan-dong underpass in succession.
The first site visited, Sinhachon Village in Toegyewon-eup, is an area particularly vulnerable to flooding due to rising water levels in the Wangsukcheon Stream and heavy rainfall. The city is working to prevent recurrence of flood damage in this area by installing flood barriers, conducting CCTV inspections of the sewage pipelines, and carrying out road repairs and dredging operations.
In addition, the city plans to build a 2,450-cubic-meter detention basin and install two new 30-horsepower drainage pumps to improve water discharge capacity, with the aim of completing major construction before the rainy season to reduce the risk of flooding.
The inspection continued at the Jingun Drainage Pump Station in the Dasan-dong area. As a core disaster prevention facility for flood control, the Jingun Drainage Pump Station is equipped with a 26,950-square-meter water storage area and eight drainage pumps, providing a drainage capacity of 3,420 tons per minute. On this day, the city thoroughly checked the operation status and emergency response systems of key facilities such as the pump room, electrical room, and integrated monitoring and control room.
Finally, an on-site inspection was conducted for the installation project of automatic vehicle barriers at the Jungchon 1, Jungchon 2, and Donong underpasses. This project aims to automatically control vehicle entry in emergency situations such as underpass flooding, and involves the installation of entry barriers, electronic display boards, water level gauges, and CCTV cameras. The total project cost is 1.5 billion won, with completion targeted for June.

Acting Mayor Kim Sangsoo stated, "In disaster response, prevention is more important than post-recovery. We will pay even closer attention to issues directly related to citizen safety, such as flood-prone areas, drainage pump stations, and underpass barrier facilities. Any issues identified in the field will be addressed immediately, and we will swiftly implement supplementary measures for each vulnerable area before the rainy season."
